56 percent of children and teenagers have mobile phones
Children and teenagers’ addiction to technology has become more intense during the quarantine period. In such a situation, experts advise parents to give more time to children in each room.
In recent times, the addiction of children and teenagers to technology has increased at an alarming rate. The rate of mobile users in the age range of 5 to 18 years in the country is 55.89 percent.
This information has emerged in the preliminary report of Census and Household Census-2022 organized by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.
The preliminary and household census report was released on Wednesday at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center.
72.31 percent of people 18 years and older own a personal mobile phone.
A gender analysis of mobile usage shows that 66.53 percent are males and 45.53 percent are females.
Among those aged 18 and above, 86.72 percent of males and 58.83 percent of females have personal mobile phones.
The division-wise analysis showed that the population owning mobile phones among the two age groups was highest in the Dhaka division and lowest in the Sylhet division.

Experts have always advocated reducing children’s exposure to mobile phones and computers for full development. But now, most parents are not able to follow these suggestions.

In this regard, Jalalabad Ragib Rabeya Medical College Hospital’s Chief Pediatric Department Professor Tarek Azad told NewsBangla, ‘It is better to keep mobile phones and computers away from children and teenagers as much as possible. They limit their imagination.
Now classes are also being held online. As a result, technology cannot be kept entirely away from materials. But who should take care to use as little as possible?
Internet usage
In the last three months of 2022, the total number of internet users between 5 and 18 years old is 30.68 percent. And 37.1 percent of the population over 18 have used the Internet.
In the division-wise analysis, it is observed that the population which has used the Internet in the last three months is highest in Dhaka Division and lowest in Rangpur Division.
